Cream or Supplement? What's the Difference? |
With the prevailing popularity of herbal supplements and improving one's physical appearance through herbal and natural supplementation, women are now searching for that wonder vitamin or herbal remedy that will take the cellulite right off their rear, thighs and butt just like that. But are these cellulite supplements even effective? If so, how do they propose to elminate or reduce cellulite?
So, with all these extraordinary advances in herbal medicine and cosmeceutical perfection, one would think that there had possibly been some breakthroughs in breaking down cellulite internally through oral supplementation. But of course we still can dream, because the reality is that most of these cellulite remedies and herbal supplements have proven to be nothing more than a veritable pipe dream that really didn't do all that much in the way of getting rid of cellulite.
What these "cellulite treatment supplements" usually do, instead of actually attacking the cellulite causing collagen bands themselves, is to act as a natural diuretic, which just means it makes you get rid of more excess water weight. It's really just a temporary reduction in the surface puffy look of cellulite through water retention reduction, but it's temporary usually.
There was one marketable natural supplement which came out on the with a major blast of publicity in major drugstore chains and departement stores just a couple years back, called Cellasene. Actually, this supplement which blasted on to the natural medicine scene and helped spawn cosmeceuticals which claimed to get rid of cellulite, I found that Cellasene actually has class action lawsuits pending, if they haven't already been resolved at the writing of this article. The reason behind the litigation is a class of people felt they were duped by the product and that it made unsubstantiated claims about it's effectiveness as a cellulite eliminator.
I've seen other, smaller, and less widely marketed herbal and natural cellulite treatment supplements also, but they are very careful not to make outright claims that they can rid you of cellulite. Instead, most of them will tell you that they can "help rid the body of excess water retention" (the diuretic effect I talked about earlier), and "help strengthen the connective tissues that have broken down" and cause cellulite.
Then what is our recourse against this nasty thing called cellulite, or are our bodies forever marred by its existence? It's a good thing there are a lot of options out there that are very effective at reducing your cellulite, or substantially eliminating it so that it is barely visible to the naked eye.
My preferred and tried and tested method is getting a good cellulite cream with either caffeine or seaweed, or some sort of stimulant in it. I prefer a cellulite cream with caffeine as this seems to work the best for me. The caffeine or other natural stimulant that is typically found in the top notch cellulite creams will usually greatly help in reducing the appearance of the puffy, spongy look of cellulite by being applied topically and massaged very vigorously into the affected areas. And when I say vigorously, I do mean that you may end up with some light bruising!
There are times when I will bruise myself slightly in the areas I've massaged to reduce the appearance of the cellulite, but I've notice that it definitely helps to break up the connective tissue below the surface that is the cause of the spongy and puckered look of cellulite. There are other alternatives as well, although they are a little pricey and are not 100% infallible.
One such alternative to supplements and creams is called endermology, which uses deep massaging action and lymphatic drainage technology through a large machine that simply rolls and massages the cellulite-ridden areas so that the collagen bands below the surface can be broken down. Another very controversial method is called mesotherapy. Mesotherapy (not massotherapy, the massaging technique, this is different) is a European import, and currently has no "clinical research" to support it, but many clients swear that the injections of natural ingredients they receive during the multi phase procedure has significantly improved their cellulite.
No matter what option you choose as your method to successfully win the battle against cellulite, just take comfort in the fact that the world of cosmetic perfection is constantly evolving. Also know that you can successfully treat and get rid of cellulite in the comfort of your own home, without supplements or complicated devices. You just have to know which products to choose and how to employ the hand-delivered methods.
