  • Laser Hair Removal - Cost, Effectiveness

Don't you just hate shaving yoru legs EVERY DAY? Especially in the Summer, it can be a real drag to constantly be shaving unwanted hair off, or plucking, waxing, sugaring, or whatever it is you've become accustomed to in order to remove pesky hair!

Along comes laser hair removal, a seeming Godsend, especially for women who are tired of shaving their legs day in and day out. Does anyone else want that five to ten minutes a day "shaved off" their schedule (no pun intended) - I know I would! So, how much is this hair removal procedure, and what exactly does it do? You have questions, I have answers.

The amazing technology behind lasers is nothing short of mind-blowing. Lasers can smooth our wrinkles, fix our eyes, they're used in very complicated surgeries, and now they can remove our hair! While laser surgery has been an absolute delight for most women who've done it, there are a few things to know before you book that laser hair removing appointment.

    How Much Does it Cost?

The cost of this procedure costs anywhere from about $350 to $500 per visit, depending on your geographical area and who you choose to perform the removal. Say if you choose a facility the exclusively provides laser hair removal, you'll probably be paying less, but if you go with a practice that does laser hair removal and other things, you might pay more. This is not always true, but it is certainly a good rule of thumb.

You will most likely need repeat visits, so you will be paying this amount for however many times it takes to get your hair thoroughly removed, and it also depends on how large of an area you are removing the hair from. The time it takes and therefore the cost of the treatment also depends on the density and courseness of your hair

Individuals with lighter complexions and darker hair, for some reason, experience the most success with laser hair removal. The procedure is not recommended for those with very dark pigmentation in their skin, or very light hair and tan skin. For some reason the process is difficult or even impossible to perform on these particular individuals, and they may be turned away or recommended to try a different hair removal technique such as electrolysis.

Removing hair with a laser is not really painful. In just a second or two, the lasers remove an area of hair roughly the size of a penny, and there is said to be virtually no pain or sensation from this action. The feeling is said to not be as painful as waxing (good thing), and has been compared to a brief "snapping" sensation, but nothing much more than that. Everyone's threshold for pain is a little different, so there is always room for individual interpretation there too.

Other Methods of Permanently Removing Unwanted Hair

While removing hair via lasers, professionally, is definitely the most permanent and effective way to rid your body of hair where you don't want it, there are some other methods which have been marketed as alternatives to lasers such as over the counter dipillatories like Nair (which I personally do not like), or other more sophisticated hair removal products that are natural and after a few uses they usually make hair grow back much softer and much slower.

This hair removal cream may be of interest to you as well. It removed the hair completely from the hair shaft, and a growth inhibitor that is natural seeps into the area the hair has been pulled from and inhibits the fast growth, slowing it effectively, and making the hair removal permanent, as it is with lasers - it just takes consistent usage. And it's cheaper!
