Microdermabrasion is an excellent skin treatment that started off only being administered in a dermatologist's or licensed dermabrasion practitioner's office. Thanks to modern day cosmetic "home products" technology, microdermabrasion - or at least a very comparable process, can now be self-administered in the comfort of your own home, and for a lot less money. Microdermabrasion is a process where the outer layer of skin is basically "sanded off" or sanded down, to reveal newer, fresher and more vibrant skin. This means two things for your skin.
It's excellent for aging skin with crows feet and fine lines, because it softens them considerably, and it also evens any roughness or unevenness in skin tone. It's also excellent for the treatment of acne scarring, since it smooths out acne scars by blasting away the skin's surface where the pitting and crater-like scarring takes places, revealing a new, smooth layer of skin with either considerably reduced evidence of scarring or completely improved skin.
While the results of in-office microdermabrasion are often very impressive, the price can be somewhat cost prohibitive at $100 per appointment, and no less than six appointments to notice an improvement that lasts for a year or more. Add in the fact that most practitioners, at least in a spa, expect a tip, and it can be a pretty expensive skin treatment!

Neutrogena Advanced Solutions as Home Microdermabrasion System Review
This home system has received high marks from the people who have purchased it. It comes with a motorized applicator and genuine aluminum dioxide crystals - the same thing that is used in doctor's and aestheticians offices for the real microdermabrasion treatment. The aluminum dioxide mixture is actually in a cream, which is applied to one of the two applicator sponges which is attached to then end of the motorized applier. Most people purchased this kit for acne scar fading, and some purchased it for reversal of aging signs such as fine lines and crows feet.
It received pretty good reviews for both of these purposes. Neutrogena advertises this product as a skin smoother which also helps get rid of red scars. Only one person said it did not help with her red scars, but she had only used it for 3 weeks at the time she bought it, so there may have been a timing issue for that one. Not only women, but men have also reviewed this microderm product pretty well. It's definitely worth checking out. Oil of Olay - Regenerist Microdermabrasion and Peel System
Oil of Olay may have a little leg up on Neutrogena's microderm kit, in that it contains an extra component in fighting scarring and aging signs. It's a microdermabrasion complex AND a glycolic acid peel which you can administer yourself at home. This system has gotten nothing but rave reviews from it's users. There are tons of high marks on this product such as "You won't waste money on facials any more", "This product is everything it says it is", "I love this product", and a lot of other very excellent reviews. The system can be used up to two times a week because it is gentle enough, and yet it is very effective in reducing lines and signs of aging such as age spots, minimizing skin discolorations, acne scarring and evening out skin tone. Zenmed Microdermabrasion Complex Review
OK, here's where I might show a little favoritism, because this is my favorite. Zenmed is a company that you may see throughout this site as they have several different areas of skin care expertise. They formulate all of their skin care with 100% natural botanicals, so it's very conducive to skin health and imparting radiance to your skin, that only a truly all natural skin care product can do. Their microdermabrasion complex is a great skin refresher. Your skin feels invigorated after each use, and you don't feel like you have a layer of something left on your skin as you do with many other "man made" microderm kits, because it is all natural and rinses away leaving just baby smooth and newly toned and tightened skin with noticeably less redness and lines. L'Oreal Dermo Expertise Refinish Microdermabrasion Kit Review
This is a little bit more affordable of a product, but I couldn't find too many reviews, good or bad on it. It only consists of two formulas, and does not look as if it comes with an applicator - at least not an automatic one, which could definitely be a drawback. The two formulas that it comes with are a gentle micrdoermabrasion exfoliating complex and a post treatment protective moisturizer, which the Neutrogena system does not come with. Overall, the indications for the product are that it refinishes skin's texture, protects and replenishes moisture (via the moisturizer and helps to lessen redness.
